University Oaks is becoming an historic neighborhood, and it is a multiculturally diverse neighborhood located in the heart of Houston, between the University of Houston main campus and Brays Bayou. UO is on the Purple Line of the Metro Train system, fifteen minutes from the Houston Medical Center, Minute Maid Park, Hermann Park, and Discovery Green, just to drop a few names.  First platted in 1939 on land formerly owned by the late Ben Taub, and has been called the secret of the Third Ward. Homes are owned and occupied by professors, coaches, professional football players, musicians, architects, artists, small business owners,  moms and dads and brothers and sisters. Our diversity is congruent with Houston's culturally rich heritage.

We have an active HomeOwners Association. The HOA Board meets monthly with a social hour prior to the meeting. We publish a community newsletter and participate in social media with a Facebook page and are connected on the Neighborhood App.  We have active committees for  architecture and deed restrictions as well as  social events including the annual Breakfast on the Bayou, a Halloween block party for kids and adults, and a holiday luminary event.
